Girls 10U (Grades 3/4)

Please read ALL of the instructions below very carefully before registering your player for this program.

ALL PLAYERS registering in this Gig Harbor Lacrosse program MUST have a USA Lacrosse membership valid through June 30th of the year of the program in order to participate.

If your player is a new, or a returning player without a current USA Lacrosse membership good through the end of the season, you will be prompted to obtain or renew your player's membership during registration. Please ensure the personal information you share with USA Lacrosse matches exactly the personal information you share with Gig Harbor Lacrosse. For example, if your USA Lacrosse membership is under Samantha Smith and you attempt to register as Sam Smith with Gig Harbor Lacrosse, the system will not recognize the name and you will not be able to complete registration. Your player's date of birth and address must also match.

ALL GIRLS registering in the Youth Girls program must live within the Peninsula School District 401 boundary zone. Players who do not live within the Peninsula School District 401 boundary zone are not allowed to register in this Gig Harbor Lacrosse program.

ALL PLAYERS (BOYS and GIRLS) are placed on teams based on their CURRENT SCHOOL GRADE (i.e. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th). Players who attempt to register for a team that does not match his/her current school grade run the risk of not being placed on a team.

Players placed on a WAITLIST will be added to an active roster as space allows, and must complete registration for the current school grade he/she is in. Attempting to register for another grade level WILL NOT increase the player's chance of being placed on a team and only serves to add additional work for the club's admin team. Players who attempt to register for a team that does not match his/her current school grade run the risk of not being placed on a team.

Thank you for your cooperation.

3/4 Girls Program

Frequently Asked Questions

Girls 10U (3/4) Team

1. What are the goals of the 10U program?

The primary goal of our recreational 10U program is to have fun! Lacrosse is an exciting, faced-paced sport with lots of action, ball movement, and scoring. As our young players are being introduced to this fabulous sport, they will learn the fundamentals of cradling, catching, throwing, ground ball pickups (the ball spends a LOT of time on the ground as we learn to catch and throw!), shooting, and defensive positioning. Players will develop a basic understanding of the game, how to work together as a team, and build camaraderie. Coaches will not only provide players with the opportunity to learn lacrosse, but also emphasize honoring the game, themselves, and their opponents.

2. How many games does the team play and who are our opponents?

The 10U teams will have a regular 8 game season playing opponents from all over the Puget Sound area, including Tacoma, Puyallup, Bainbridge Island, Seattle, Bellevue, and Auburn, to name a few. Approximately 50% of the team's scheduled games will be home games.

3. Who will coach the program?

This is a great question! GHLA is a recreational program, which means we rely on volunteer coaches, as well as an all-volunteer board, to keep our club going. All of our current coaches began coaching when one of their children began playing lacrosse! The club supplies certification training and will work closely with new coaches to get them up and running with their team. It is exciting to learn right along side your player, so please consider volunteering to become a coach. No prior lacrosse experience is necessary. If you are interested in coaching, please contact our Girls Youth Athletic Director at girlsyouthad@gigharborlacrosse.com for more information. In addition to coaching, there are many other opportunities for parents to become involved such as assistant coach, sideline manager, timer, scorekeeper, field liner, and team parent. Each of these roles provides a chance to learn more about the game and be close to the action!

4. When does the program begin and end?

The 10U team will start practicing the last week of February. Practice location and times won't be available until mid-February, but players can expect to have two 1.5 hour practices per week. Games will begin mid-March and run through the first weekend in June. All 10U players are expected to play in the end of season jamboree/tournament.

5. What equipment do players need?

The following equipment is required of each female player:

  • Lacrosse Goggles - Required (supplied by player)
  • Lacrosse Stick - Required (supplied by player)
  • Mouth Guard - Required (cannot be white, or clear) (supplied by player)

6. Do you have rental equipment available?
