Players, coaches, officials, parents and spectators are to conduct themselves in a manner that “Honors the Game” and demonstrates respect to other players, coaches, officials, parents, spectators and fans. In becoming a member of the lacrosse community an individual assumes certain obligations and responsibilities to the game of lacrosse and its participants. The essential elements in this “Code of Conduct” are HONESTY and INTEGRITY. Those who conduct themselves in a manner that reflects these elements will bring credit upon the sport of lacrosse, themselves, their team and their organization.
“Code of Conduct”, U.S. Lacrosse
In addition to the above, we ask that, as a GHLA parent, you:
Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice, or GHLA event.
Place the emotional and physical well-being of the players ahead of your personal desire to win.
Are a positive role model for your player and the other players on his/her team. A player may be disqualified from participation in future GHLA practices, games, or events as the result of a parent receiving an un-sportsmanlike behavior penalty during a game.
Refrain from the use of profanity, drugs, alcohol, or tobacco at any GHLA practice, game, or event.
Do not cross the field boundary during a game, or risk you and/or your player being disqualified from participation in future GHLA practices, games, or events.
Resolve conflicts without regressing to hostility or violence. Never voice a complaint or a concern to a coach, or official in the presence of a player. Handle grievances or misunderstandings between coaches, officials or any other parties involved with GHLA by going through the proper channels and procedures.
Do not encourage any behavior that could be dangerous to your player, or other players. The safety and welfare of all players are of primary importance.
Praise your player’s effort and good sportsmanship, while at the same time modeling these positive behaviors for your player. Parents who violate this code of conduct, local league rules, or the U.S. Lacrosse rule book run the risk of removal from observing games, practices, and GHLA events, and/or expulsion of their player from the team.
In addition to the above, we ask that, as a GHLA player, you:
Support your team members and be a team player.
Stay within the team area of the sideline during all games.
Accept coaching and be ready to learn and to have fun!
Listen to your coach and follow the rules of GHLA , your local lacrosse league, and U.S. Lacrosse.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship on and off of the field of play, and do not act in a malicious way, or retaliate if you feel you have been wronged.
Attend and be on time to all practices, games, and any other team functions.
Show respect toward all coaches, players and officials at all times.
Refrain from the use of profanity, fighting, or arguing with coaches, teammates, or officials.
Players who violate this code of conduct, local league rules, or the U.S. Lacrosse rule book run the risk of expulsion from GHLA.
